AWMC Seminar Program: Karen Weynberg

Karen is a CSIRO Future Science Fellow in Synthetic Biology based at UQ. She completed her PhD in virology at the University of Warwick and the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, U.K., where she discovered novel viruses that infect marine phytoplankton. More recently, Karen was an ARC Super Science Fellow at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, Townsville, for 5 years researching coral reef-associated viruses on the Great Barrier Reef. In 2017, Karen began a CSIRO Future Science fellowship, held jointly at CSIRO and the University of Queensland. This new research will use synthetic biology to develop phage therapy for the control of multi-drug resistant bacterial biofilms.
