AWMC Seminar Program: Highlights of our research at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) during the last 10 years: examples of GHG monitoring and new tools for sewer management

Maite Pijuan is a senior researcher at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA). She completed a PhD in environmental engineering at the University Autonomous of Barcelona in 2004 and moved to the AWMC in 2005 to join the team of Prof. Yuan as a research fellow. In 2010 she moved back to Spain with a tenure track position at ICRA becoming a permanent research staff from the Institute in 2015. Her main expertise is in biological wastewater treatment systems, having led several projects in the last years in GHG monitoring, micropollutant biodegradation and resource recovery.

Oriol Gutierrez, Research Fellow at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA). PhD in Chemical Engineering for the University of Girona. Worked at the AWMC from 2005 to 2010.  Expert in urban drainage and sewer networks. His research focuses on the development of innovative solutions for urban water management through the effective integration of fundamental science and applied engineering. Leader of several research, consulting and technology transfer projects, both national and international. He is external advisor of several companies such as Trojan Technologies (Canada), FACSA (Spain) and the Catalan Water Agency.

AWMC hosts a free seminar every Friday from 9am.
