About the Conference

The University of Queensland's Advanced Water Management Centre, in collaboration with the International Water Association, are hosting the 2018 IWA Nutrient Removal and Recovery Conference.

With the traditional aim of protecting receiving waters against eutrophication, nutrient removal has become one of the key challenges for wastewater treatment facilities all over the world. The conference will be an international meeting point for scientists, engineers, managers, and entrepreneurs. It will provide an opportunity to review and assess research and management practices on nutrient removal, in particular planning, operation, performance, and economics of wastewater treatment.

Welcome from Chair IWA Nutrient Removal and Recovery Conference 2018

It is with great pleasure, I invite submissions of extended abstracts for NRR18 – Closing the Loop. The IWA NRR Specialist Group is progressing a paradigm-shift away from solely protecting receiving waters against eutrophication via wastewater nutrient removal, towards a more holistic approach which utilises technologies to maximise nutrient and energy recovery, and economic return. Building on the 2016 WEF/IWA-hosted NRR conference held in the USA, and the 2017 NRR/LWWTP conference held in China, NRR2018 will be held in the unique setting of subtropical, Brisbane, Australia over 18 - 21 November 2018.

The Program Committee is calling for submissions of high-quality, original and previously unpublished research in the theory, practice, and application of Nutrient Removal and Recovery. NRR18 will focus on fundamental- and applied research, and applications of technologies in the design, operation, and optimization of wastewater treatment systems.

I look forward to your contribution to the exciting and cutting edge forum that is NRR18.
